jaketb martinslade, I’ve had a look at your model as a friend is going to print it out for me to give a go on release day, but we’ve noticed you have a photo of the model with the mag safe cutouts, but no model available with mag safe, only no mag safe cutouts.

CMF1_hacker LaurenceKeir strange request here but could you add the lens attachment to your CMF1 rear cover. I’d be happy to test them for you (buying the lens) as I’m a STEM prof in the UK and could provide feedback/optimisation. I guess that I could open both files and take some best guesses and merge them myself and have some undergrads print them at the uni but I wouldn’t have your experience of failure modes.

LaurenceKeir CMF1_hacker I think I’d have to redesign the CMF 1 case to be able to attach the lens mount. The designs can’t really work together as is due to the way I’ve designed the alignment pins on the CMF1 case. I think it’s possible though, so would be interesting to try out. I’ll likely order the lenses when they are available too.

jaketb LaurenceKeir I’ve got a question from my friend with the 3d printer who’s doing this for me. He’s asking how you intend to print the bottom left (thumbscrew area) as it’s so short it needs supports but when he’s printing supports they get stuck because it’s so small in that area.
CMF1_hacker LaurenceKeir thanks! I haven’t had confirmation that CMF1 and CMF2 lens are in the same location relative to the shared screw placements. Would you have any insight by chance? Have a nice bank holiday weather with great weather for once.
LaurenceKeir CMF1_hacker the screw placements and cameras are in different places on both. I’ve modelled an adapter to try fit the lenses on the CMF1, are you able to print one?

LaurenceKeir jaketb it’s printing pretty well on my tests so far, just with normal support, you can see that area on my Makerworld models. https://makerworld.com/models/1371766 It’s not perfect, but I see it as a sacrificial area, it’ll be hidden so doesn’t need to look perfect.
