Does Nothing actually planning to release Nothing Gallery Full Release?

Nothing Gallery was teased on 24 September 2024 with Nothing OS 3.0.

8 months now, still it is in beta phase, I don’t think it should take 8 months to launch an application which they showed us in the video.

They completely forget that they are yet to launch Nothing Gallery (full release)

I feel the company has now shifted the focus on the launches rather than the software, Nothing Gallery doesn’t have it’s own editor, doesn’t have the feature which they showed us in the video (like the Super Resolution, Upscaling the Images, Create yourself as a samurai or something), then what’s the point of launching the application, I don’t get it, if you can’t deliver what you say then don’t modedit: redacted say.

First they created such hype, then people actually get excited thinking it would be great but then Nothing decides to just leave the application aside, something is seriously wrong with the company, I have a feeling about this.

Actual Problems with Nothing Gallery

The issues with Nothing Gallery are known to the team but still there’s nothing on that front, like Nothing Gallery doesn’t by default open the photos as soon as you capture, instead still uses Google Photos, the object detection doesn’t work properly - it can’t identify objects properly just copy the whole image like what?, then no editing features till now, the categorisation doesn’t work like it categories 2-3 images then after a day or two it just randomly disappears like what?.

Other than that Nothing Gallery has nothing, what a bummer.

So ideally this things should be taken on priority - especially when you know the issues and I think 6 months is enough time to develop a lot of things and fix the known issues (6 because let’s say 1 month spent to know the issues and 1 month to think).

They don’t even communicate on this (I really want to curse here but can’t).

Yet there is nothing on this front, what a waste to be honest - I thought Nothing takes their software experience as a priority but NO.

Nothing is losing their focus from the software point of view - becoming just another regular phone company.

Nothing should really think about the development and don’t put the things/features in the video’s if you can’t/are not sure if you can deliver it or not.

No one will actually speak on this matter and then this thread will just be lost in some few days.

I just noticed that in the PlayStore, it’s not Early Release now.

But still it doesn’t change the facts that I mentioned above.

oh dont worry editing pictures will be part of nothing os 4.0 where you will be able to crop images and the community will love it and praise the team for adding such a mindful feature/s

I’d rather stick with Google Photos for now. Nothing’s Gallery app is unusable for me, in my opinion.

But let’s see what they do in the next six months or so. I just hope the Gallery app integrates flawlessly with the Camera app within that time.

Guidomelvin bro there’s no option other than sticking to the Google Photos as of now.

I don’t think there will be any good progress on the Nothing Gallery it’s already been 6 months (of development) still I don’t see anything.

Also nothing team doesn’t speak about it, so I feel we aren’t going to see anything great (speaking by looking at the current status).

More likely the release has been postponed to let the gallery capability be a Nothing Phone 3 feature initially.

This ties in with the whole AI piece as well…Phone 3 is all about AI remember.

Google do this all the time.

What the point, if it doesn’t even have the basic functionality. They could have actually work on the functionalities by the time, instead of giving a waste which we have right now.

We announce/release things when we have completed the development or only small things are left to develop.

I own CMF Phone 1 nd bought 3a and loved Nothing as a brand bcoz of their software. It’s their USP. If they want to shift away from this then sadly we hv to shift to something else as market is flooded with the brands that are better in terms of specs, camera and hardware at the same price range. I hope they focus more on providing existing customers better software with their own gallery, dialler, contacts etc.

The gallery app doesn’t even categorise images properly. I have 5000+ images on my phone, 4000 of them are in the camera album. The gallery app has categorised less than 100 images. I’ve tried clearing the data of the app and letting it rescan my photos but it just stops after about a 100 images. This is on a nothing phone 2 btw, the processing power is more than enough to run even LLMs locally.

I know it’s a beta but surely using some random lightweight image classification model like YOLO doesn’t take that much effort😭🙏 I created a photo search app for a personal project in a week lol.

caffeineash I feel you bro even I have thousands of pictures but it categorises only 4-5 hardly and after a day or two it just completely disappears.

I agree with the project even I am a developer.

But I don’t know but I surely feel that Nothing isn’t focusing on this. They are too focused on launching the products. Forgetting the Software

Nothing is going to be another Nokia. They are working on widgets (e.g nokia snake game) instead of basic requirements. Being a nothing 2 user i feel shit! 1.camera is poor quality 2.UI feels laggy and buggy 3.Performance and battary are not great 4.gallery app is another Bullshit they ever made. I always suggest people not to even think about this company.
