What is wrong with Google files? I really hope Nothing OS doesn’t start to be like Samsung or OnePlus and have duplicate apps of everything.

KarlKeppler There’s nothing explicitly wrong with Google files. Infact our designs are also inspired by it.

That was just our version of what we would prefer if Nothing creates one.

What is interesting is, it seems that in India, they want all duplicate Nothing apps of the Google apps. But in the rest of the world we want just Google apps. Wonder how that works.

KarlKeppler Maybe because in India, top mobile brands sold are Vivo, Mi and Samsung and all of them come with tons of their apps and another ton of features. So we never used or never needed to use Google apps.

DheeruJangir OK that’s fine, then Nothing can have a India version of the software with all the bloatware you want, and then make a NA and EU version that is free of bloatware and is stock like Pixel.

KarlKeppler I mean, G Files is pretty ugly as it is to me, and I don’t think Nothing should rely that much on Google for fundamental apps like the Files, Phone, etc. If it benefits in the OS’ ease of use and speed, then it isn’t bloat. What Samsung and OnePlus are doing it really is far-fetched though, but Nothing will only benefit from a slightly bigger first-party app library. Best if they would make them all optional for the user, if you want to use Google only apps.

But in my opinion it would just be a first party app that could easily be optimised for Nothing OS.

But that is what I mean. Most NA and EU only want Google Apps. It seems only India wants all these duplicate apps. So India can have a separate ROM with all the duplicate apps they like, but keep NA and EU ROM’s nice and clean with only Google Apps.

KarlKeppler I got your point and it’s all about personal preference.

But according to this logic only Google Pixel’s stock android and Apple’s iOS are original rest all are duplicate . So technically in NA and EU , Nothing should only provide stock android and not it’s slight modified version Nothing OS.
