No esim support for CMF Phone 2 Pro? A serious inconvenience for frequent travellers

As I understand there won’t be esim support for the CMF Phone 2 Pro, and that’s a serious inconvenience for frequent travellers. Unless esim.me works well, I’m sitting this one out once again.

Does adding esim support really compromise that much more from a cost or technical standpoint?

Otherwise love everything else (design, colours, specs, fast charging, size, OS) and pricing is just amazing. But no NFC and esim, no deal Nothing.

Not even the regular Phone (3a) has eSIM, so I am not really surprised the new CMF Phone, which is cheaper than 3a, doesn’t feature eSIM either.

Maybe CMF phone 3 will feauture Esim, for now nothing bring nfc to this device its a big step forward.

I feel like their design and pricing strategy is such that they believe the market segment with higher NFC country penetration and more frequent global travellers can afford to pay for the a higher priced Phone 3a Pro with NFC/esim support and higher specs generally. I also feel like these markets are probably not their first priority as it’s a bloodbath to compete in

But I also don’t want to be forced up the price segment as a result, because the CMF Phone 2 Pro has fundamentally everything I need (NFC, no BS smooth android based OS, fast charging, more than I can ask for/need camera, great minimal design/colours) and I don’t want to be a slave (fear of dropping, losing, theft) to increasingly expensive phones when the cost of living has become outrageous

esim was the one last thing I wanted the CMF Phone Pro 2 to have vs. last year

I hope the Nothing team will read this rant 😢

Finally it has NFC globally, exclude India region.

India users pay with UPI that is camera based but others need to depend on nfc to make payments. NFC is sacrificed for charger in india.

Also noticed that the CMF Phone 2 Pro and Nothing Phone 3a Pro both have gaps in band frequencies for certain countries, such as Canada, so unclear whether it will function smoothly when travelling, especially into remote areas

If the phones are made for specific geographies and demographics to help the company grow and scale in a certain way, I get it, but then this iteration is not for me then, maybe next time 😢
