Hello, Nothing community!
I recently started using the Nothing Phone (3a) and wanted to share some thoughts and ideas that could make the device even better.
First, I’d like to suggest some hardware and performance tweaks. The Essential Key is a useful feature, but it would be great to have the option to disable or remap it, as accidental presses can be frustrating. Additionally, introducing a sensitivity setting for the button could help avoid unintended triggers. On the performance side, improving thermal management is crucial, especially when using resource-heavy apps, as overheating can be a common issue. Optimizing battery performance to reduce the rate of drain would also make a big difference in daily use.
Next, there’s room for improvement in the software and interface. Adding a Tap to Top feature, similar to iPhones, would make navigating long pages in browsers and apps much more convenient. The gallery app could also benefit from an update, such as the ability to completely hide photo albums instead of just excluding them from the main view. Expanding functionality with native apps for calls and file management would give users more options beyond Google’s ecosystem, and improving integration with other devices through a Smart View feature would be a welcome addition.
Finally, addressing some smaller issues could really polish the user experience. For example, fixing the bug with white lines appearing on the screen when the device is turned off, or improving the double-tap to lock screen feature so it works consistently across the home and lock screens. Additionally, users with dual SIM cards, especially me using one in roaming mode, have reported connectivity issues after resetting network settings or rebooting the device. Resolving this would make the phone more reliable for those who rely on multiple SIMs.
