  • Voidcaller – A Nothing-Inspired Dialer App!

Hi, Nothing Community!
My name is Vivek Bhimani, and I’m excited to share a new app concept I’ve been working on called Voidcaller. Inspired by the clean and minimalist design of Nothing, Voidcaller brings that aesthetic into a unique dialer app experience.

The UI/UX is crafted with the iconic Nothing style in mind—simple, functional, and visually appealing. We’re still actively working on it, and I would love to hear your thoughts! Any feedback from the community would be incredibly helpful in shaping the final version of Voidcaller.

    Brewer Taranov in the new Nothing OS 3.0, the use of the NDot font has been significantly reduced. While it has a unique style, it can be quite difficult to read in certain contexts. For this reason, we’ve opted to use Nothing’s new font, NType, which offers a much better balance between readability and design.

    We hope this makes the app more accessible while still staying true to Nothing’s aesthetic.

        Hey mate, it’s simple, I like the use of the font on the dialler screen and like the very clear distinction between answer and decline without having to swipe for one or, the other.

        If Nothing were to create a dialer, I’d love to see some of these concepts come to fruition. Nice work!!

          This is very nice! Definitely looks like an app that Nothing would release. People tend to go overboard with the ndot font on some concepts and overlook the serif font Nothing uses. It works really well here and makes everything very readable which is important in something like a dialer! All of the screens have uniformity and look like they belong together which is great too, nice job 😄

                vovan-v Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate your perspective. While I aimed for a clean and functional design, I’m always looking for ways to innovate further. Any specific suggestions on how to differentiate it more would be greatly appreciated!

However, I personally find the NDot fonts and dot icons can be difficult to read in various contexts. My primary goal is to create a clear and user-friendly design, so I hope you understand my perspective. While I recognize that Nothing uses dot fonts and icons for aesthetic purposes, my focus is on functionality and readability. Thank you again for your valuable feedback!

                        Anonymous142 Haha, I get it—there’s definitely no shortage of Nothing dialer concepts! 😄 For me, though, it’s less about reinventing the wheel and more about seeing how far we can push the design language while still making something functional and fresh. Each take brings something new, and who knows—maybe one of these dialers will hit the sweet spot! Appreciate your thoughts and thanks for keeping it real!

                          I remember while designing N Dialer in its initial stages. Used N Dot all over the place and it was my first attempt in any App UI design. Over these months i have also learned what works and what doesnt. And we have then significantly reduced the NDot fonts in N Dial with each update. Looking at this concept reminds me alot of any other dialer out there basically in dark mode. But as Vivek mentioned already, theyre not here to reinvent the wheel. Which is highly commendable since most users want just a basic funtional dialer app. However at HBS our vision was very different since the beginning. Its coming from the old days of N900, N9, Jolla and then Nothing, brining users a completely different product that they have been used to since decades. N Dial in this regards is very different and I hope that Void Dialer also serves the best to Nothing users and community who is looking for it. Good luck to the Dialer team and we are here to support!
