How people will feel when they will know the truth that nothing has changed the peak brightness of the phone(1).

"Hey everyone, just to give you a quick update on the peak brightness of phone (1). While the hardware of the phone (1) allows a peak brightness level of 1200 nits we have currently capped it via software at 700 nits to ensure an optimal user experience from a heat and battery consumption perspective.

The product team has been working on identifying specific usage case scenarios where the 1200 nits peak brightness could be reached while always ensuring a good user experience. This will be enabled via a future software update. Hope this helps clarifying the situation. Also, would be great to hear if anyone has experienced a moment where your screen didn’t feel bright enough."

Personally, I don’t feel lied to - I understand this change to have occurred to improve the end-user experience, and it doesn’t appear to be permanent.

MohdIsmail Hi, Ismail. I get it you’re disappointed, and justifiably so. There was some miscommunication or rather I should say late communication from Nothing’s side, and changing the spec silently wasn’t of any help either.

But what Rob suggests makes perfect sense, and the display hardware is definitely capable of 1200 nits which is just limited to 700 nits as of now. Neither you are being betrayed nor being lied to, be rest assured about that.

Has anyone checked the phone (1) actually has a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate? 😆

I hope MKHBD and the like are going to make abundantly clear going forwards that, unless they themselves have tested the RL performance of a device, what they are spouting in their reviews and comparisons are claimed specs from the manufacturer, who evidently can’t always be trusted to be either truthful, competent, or forthcoming with material changes.
