I have still not see any company providing highest security to the phones.

When a phone is theft today, two major things happens,

Sell the phone to others.
Take the phone parts and sell it phone repair stores.

Two of my phones were stolen, spent so much of time trying to see if I can get back, spoke to many people their answers was simple, “You can’t get it back”

Apple phones have good security comparing Android.

Can we use blockchain or any other tech which is today to minimise theft. (Learning from community as well, have very little idea on this topic)

Eg: Let’s say a part is removed, unique code has to be entered if not, it should stop working, there should be a way to make the part failure.

In Android world in security Samsung have their flagship Knox security which can also be breached 🤣.

In security nobody can compete to that fruit company.

I think an integrated software/hardware solution like Apple would be the best. Sometimes you have to admit that something simply works.

There are many ways you can aprouch this problem. But you have to be carefull with exploits and mistakes people can make.
Imagine that you have a phone so secure, that his own user can lock it and never be able use it again, losing everything. There’s always a line that you have to draw. Encryption is a way for your data not to be stolen, but it doesn’t make the phone unusable if it’s stolen. It can be factory reset and be like a new one. Some way integrating an hardware key can be a way to lock your phone permanently. Using your pin or biometrics to unlock this hardware key, and thus unlocking the phone.

Companies use “privacy” and “Security” against right-to-repair. What you suggested in the original post might lead to the serialization of all parts, which is bad for the general consumer from the repair perspective. iPhones are indeed hard to crack if strong passwords are in place, yet they are still stolen out in the real world because the average theif does not have the technical skills to see beforehand that the device they are about to steal might not have a monetary value as its unusable. They will simply toss the device out if they cant make use of it in any way and move on. We really have to make sure by demanding more secure phones, we are not asking companies to comprise device repairability and find some middle ground.

On the other hand, most people still ignore the basic principles of modern-day security which already exist, like using a complex, non-personal password/passphrase, not-repeating it, etc., simply because they choose convenience over security. As long as companies don’t make security intuitive enough for people, it will always be as good as its weakest link, which is us, the user.
