Kryozen I’ve actually played around with the idea of making the back of Nothing phones a bit more informative while keeping it clean and minimalist, and what I came up with could definitely be applied to your problem!
If you know how the Phone (1) and (2) look, they have a glyph at like 45° in the top right corner. The idea is that you could replace that area with a matrix display, which retains the glyph functionality but could also display time with an analog clock or a digital one. And if you’ve ever used Essential Notifications, you’d know how that the importance of notifications aren’t always the same. Besides not even knowing what the notification is, of course. A matrix display fixes this problem entirely since you can actually see the information displayed alongside more specific realtime progress, such as typing indicators and long download or upload times.
By pending I assume you mean notifications that are in the background but good to keep an eye on, but the functionality you mentioned almost sounds like what Essential Notifications do. A singular glyph lights up (in your case, I think the one to the right of the camera module) with certain notifications and stays lit until you check the notification.
That’s my solution to your problem though, and I suspect it might actually come to the Phone (3) since they have been using a lot of arranged dots and squares in all of their teasers… just a thought!
Here is the theoretical solution to your problem:

Even though it doesn’t apply to the Phone (3a), what do you think? 🫡🫡
