Hello, I’m having an issue on my Nothing Phone 3a where the audio on my USB-C to 3.5mm adapter cuts out on the lock screen.
I’ve tried two different adapters (neither of which are major brands) and both have the same behavior. They work perfectly fine and as expected when the phone is unlocked, but cut out after a second or two when the phone is locked (usually as soon as the fingerprint reader circle appears).
I’ve tried the adapter on a Galaxy S10e and V60 and the headphones continued to work on the lock screen on both. I’ve also tried two different media playback apps (VLC and Foobar2000) and both cut out on the lock screen in the same way.
Interestingly, the media does not “pause” in the app, like it would if I unplugged the adapter, so it’s like the phone does still think the adapter is connected but just doesn’t send audio to it. However, it also doesn’t send audio through my phone’s speakers when this happens, so it’s not like it’s switching output.
I found some ~2 year old forum posts about one of the Pixel phones where people were having this issue, but I tried all the suggestions I could find in those posts (usually around USB settings in the developer options) and nothing improved. The only method I’ve found that usually works is leaving the adapter plugged in to the phone, restarting the phone, and then immediately starting whatever media playback app. That usually let’s me lock the screen and still hear audio, but even that isn’t a perfect science and it does seem to stop working at some point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
