How to keep battery in good health?

Which option is better to use to help keep the battery in good health?
I have two options on my 3a,

Smart Charging Mode: charge steadily overnight to preserve long-term battery life.
Custom Charging Mode: if you charge daily, it’s recommended to set the maximum charging to 70-90%.

If I use the Smart it charges to 100% (my phone is not yet a week old) no matter when I charge it, I don’t want to leave my phone charging at night, I want to keep an eye on it when it’s charging, so is just better to use Custom and set it to 80%?

I would have thought the Smart Mode would vary the charging percentages but it doesn’t, it just charges to 100% which isn’t going to help the battery, surely?

DJ Agree. I feel like the battery life is pretty good on this phone I still get over 5-6 hours SOT with 80% charged. When I go back to home from Work I have like 30% or 25% left. So its actually really good

DJ Yeah I think limiting is the best option.
I don’t know how one can charge steadily overnight, if it’s plugged in then it’s charging up to whatever the maximum is, which is what I asked the question just to double check I was understanding it correctly.

With all my phones i charged them overnight and they battery life was great, the all works fine after 3-4 years of life,

So charging up to 80% doesen’t helps with nothing.
