Would Nothing consider extending OS update support by one more year for all its flagship series (Phone 1 and 2)? Not asking for “a, Pro or CMF phones” [sorry!]
I recently commented on another thread about this, but after thinking about it more, I felt like I should make a proper post to really emphasize the point and speak up for a lot of users who probably feel the same way.
Phone 1 wasn’t just a new device — it was Nothing’s first-ever product. A lot of us took a leap of faith and supported a brand-new company because we loved the vision and honestly, even today, Phone 1 feels special — the design, the software experience, the uniqueness — it’s still strong in so many areas. I’m very happy using it! It was designed to be their main flagship. Positioned as a mid-range flagship (like Pixel 6a/7a, or OnePlus Nord 2 but with flagship-level design and experience). It brought unique design (Glyph interface), premium build quality, and good overall specs for its price.
Now, Phone 2 took it a step further and felt like a more polished flagship experience — better cameras, better performance, better software support.
Giving one more year of updates would really show that Nothing stands by the people who believed from day one. Other companies did that already. Nothing a community-first brand, can set an even better example here.
Google extended support for Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 from 3 years to 5 years.
Samsung increased support for Galaxy S24 to 7 years.
OnePlus increased support to 4 years of Android updates and 5 years of security for newer devices, starting with OnePlus 12.
Still areas to improve:
Camera performance, especially on Phone (1), could still be better with software updates — low light shots, color processing, focus speed, etc. These aren’t major hardware problems — many of them could be fine-tuned with future updates.
So it’s not just about keeping security patches alive, it’s about continuing to improve the actual experience for the people still using these phones.
At last, Early adopters like us helped Nothing get to where it is today. It would mean a lot if the brand showed that it remembers and values those first believers by giving a little more love to the devices that started it all.
Really hope the team considers this seriously.
Would love to hear what other users think too!
Thanks for reading.
