I have used several smartphones over the past few years, both with and without auto-brightness enabled. From my experience, I understand that when auto-brightness is enabled, some smartphones increase screen brightness in the camera app, which might indeed be helpful for capturing photos. However, this behavior typically does not occur when auto-brightness is turned off.
On the CMF Phone, I’ve noticed that the screen brightness increases in the camera app even when auto-brightness is disabled. What’s more, the brightness remains high not only when capturing images but also when viewing the captured photos directly from the camera app. This is uncomfortable, especially in low-light environments, and defeats the purpose of manually setting a low brightness level.
This is the reason I raised this concern. I’m not trying to argue, as I understand that will not resolve my issue. I simply wanted to confirm whether this is an intended feature or not.
While automation can be beneficial, I believe there should be limits. Even after disabling auto-brightness, the device continues to automate this behavior, which I find inconvenient. As the saying goes, “Don’t fix what isn’t broken.” I prefer to have control over certain aspects of my device, such as deciding when I need higher brightness while capturing photos or viewing them.
I kindly request that the company consider adding a toggle option for this feature, allowing users to enable or disable it based on their preference.
