It’s a nice idea. A strained glass effect would look lovely, but I’d want to see lights all the way across the back of the phone to take true advantage of the aesthetic.
One idea I have for phone (2) is swappable, form-fitting protectives cases that have the ability to draw power from the device it houses. Perhaps the case charges wirelessly, or there’s a little ‘smart-conductor’ that draws power once it meets the conductor on the back of the phone. The case could then have whatever lights/displays the manufacturer chooses, whilst remaining forming-fitting because it replaces the phone (2)'s rear plate.
