Device: Nothing Phone 3a
OS Version: Nothing OS 3.1
Current Situation:
Nothing Phone 3a runs on Nothing OS 3.1, which offers a clean and modern UI. The system has a built-in dark theme, but it uses dark gray tones instead of pure black. This is especially noticeable on AMOLED screens where true black can turn pixels off completely, offering both battery savings and a richer visual experience.
User Concern:
Many users, including myself, are requesting a true AMOLED black dark mode.
The current gray-based theme does not fully benefit from the AMOLED display.
It impacts visual appeal and reduces battery-saving potential on black screens.
Why AMOLED Black Dark Mode is Important:
Battery Efficiency: True black reduces power usage on AMOLED displays.
Better Contrast: Pure black backgrounds make UI elements and colors pop.
Eye Comfort: Reduces eye strain, especially at night or in low light.
Modern Look: Feels more premium and aligns with user preferences seen in other phones like Samsung, Pixel, etc.
User Request:
We request the Nothing team to add an optional āAMOLED Blackā theme in the system settings or allow further customization of the dark mode in future updates. This will greatly improve user satisfaction and make the OS more AMOLED-optimized.
Suggested Interim Options (Already Tried):
Enabled āOverride force-darkā in Developer Options ā partial result, not consistent.
Applied black wallpapers and dark launchers ā limited to home/lock screen.
Used third-party apps with AMOLED themes ā works, but not system-wide.
Conclusion:
Please consider our request for a true black AMOLED dark mode in the next version of Nothing OS. It will make the experience better, especially for users with AMOLED screens like the upcoming CMF devices or existing AMOLED-based models.
Thank you for your continuous innovation and community support.
Sincerely,
Aditya sharma
