Issues with Private Space and Google Accounts on Nothing OS

With the rollout of the new Private Space feature, I’m running into several problems related to Google account integration and app management.

I can’t log in to my private Google account within apps in Private Space. When I try to hide an app, it only shows my regular Google accounts, not the private one.
If I install an APK directly inside Private Space, it recognizes the private Google account. I can move other already installed apps into Private Space, but any apps that I install from within Private Space disappear completely once I exit the “Add apps to Private Space” menu. They only ever appear if I search for them in the app drawer.
It’s also frustrating that Nothing hasn’t included the Play Store or Chrome in Private Space by default, making it harder to set up apps or browse privately.

From what I’ve experienced, while it’s possible to move apps from the main space to Private Space, these apps don’t recognize or allow login with the private Google account. This defeats the purpose of having a separate, private environment, as the apps continue to use the main space’s Google accounts instead.

Has anyone else run into these issues? I’d appreciate any tips or workarounds, especially for getting apps to properly recognize the private Google account or for adding essential apps like Play Store to Private Space.

Hi,
I came across the privacy space feature that is recently released in update. I wanted to test the feature in and out.
I faced multiple issues,
issue 1: An app that is already installed in the main file system, once moved to private, will not be available in the app drawer of the main screen. My question here is that what about the data that is already present in the main file system. shouldn’t that be migrated to the private space along with it.
issue 2: In the same scenario as above, atleast whatever the data that is about to be generated post migration to private space should be under the private file system atleast. this is also not there.

issue 3: apps that are directly installed (using apks) onto that private file system are successfully installing and creating the data onto the private file system. but apps are not displayed. shouldn’t there be the apps display screen for that by default. currently that is missing.

issue 4: google system apps like play store, chrome are missing in the private space making it too difficult for getting those apps into the private space. that should be cloned as that of the work profiles, that we usually have.

I’m going to buy a Nothing Phone for the first time. Previously, I was using a Samsung S21 FE. Now, I’m planning to get the Nothing Phone 3a. One thing I want to know is whether the “Private Space” option works similarly to the Secure Folder option. I need to use my secondary Google account, as well as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Snapchat inside the Private Space, while continuing to use my regular accounts in the main space. Is that possible with Nothing’s Private Space?

SkyHighTech Hey mate. Yes, you can add apps (duplicate apps) into your private space while using your main account(s) in your ‘main space’. It’s similar to the Pixel ‘private’ space or, Samsung Secure Folder.

SkyHighTech if you hide apps in private space..whatsapp instagram or any social media app not working in background in private space..these apps work only when you use private space..no message no notification nothing…this is a problem..all apps will be isolated until you open private space.

I’m also experiencing a huge lag spike whenever I unlock private space. I have sent feedback and logs to nothing support so hopefully they get it sorted soon.

the lag spike and stutter occurs whenever I unlock private space. it doesn’t matter how or where I unlock it, it always stutters and lags on the unlock. if private space is already unlocked it doesn’t lag.

I’m also experiencing some lag and stutter on lockscreen and while unlocking the phone,though it’s very inconsistent.

hrry This is incorrect. In Samsung Secure Folder, an app is copied into the Secure Folder and you need to set it up again, meaning the account details are not copied. If I copy Instagram, I have to login again, so I can use a different account. In Nothing’s Private Space, the app is just moved, so it’s the same account that you logged into in the main space. After moving to Private, the app is just hidden from the main space.

There is also no option for Play Store in the Private Space, so you can’t log into a different Google account. You can however have separate files and photos in the Private Space.

I just updated my device, and made privacy space but after a day i forgot the password, is there any solution to it , hopeless I did not put anything in private space so I am ok in resting the private space , but to rest the private space its asking the same password i forgot! Please help !!

I would like to move my photos to the Private Space, but I am currently unable to do so using the available features.

Currently, if I want a photo in the Private Space, I have to take it using the Private Camera, which is not convenient.

I would prefer the option to move photos, files, and apps to the Private Space manually, as per my choice.

Kindly consider adding this feature for better flexibility and user experience.

SHARATH S you can import and export files from private space. access private space from the launcher and above private camera you should see private files. the + indicates move a file from main to private. the - indicates moving a file from private to public

I discovered a privacy issue on my phone where contacts stored in Private Space are still visible when using the global search feature. For example, if I search for a letter like “c” in the main space, it shows contacts that are supposed to be hidden in the Private Space.

I updated my phone 2 yesterday to the new update and I had my apps in the hidden drawer but when I created a private space this made errors and file corruption for some programs.
I had an app limit for chrome to not use it more than an hour but the private space made parental control unable to edit the time for chrome and I was stuck with the app closed and even removing it from private space didn’t solve it but it was fixed when I deleted the private space.
I had aethers2x in my hidden drawer and after the update all games became very laggy and were unplayable and after investigating I found out that the save files were corrupted and They worked fine after making a new save file.
So just in case for any other accident remove all your apps from the hidden drawer before updating the phone.

My private space is missing. I had hidden some apps, but now they are also missing, and I cannot access them. The Nothing OS is becoming problematic. My device is the Nothing 2A.
Is there anyone have faced some issues?

Can we have Hide back again please? I can’t get Settings or the SIM card app off my app list.
