My starting point of this project is to use a material that could display the growing brand and its’ strong presence in the mobile device market. The inspiration for its design struck me when I saw an amazing blend between the transparent and wooden material on a wooden epoxy table.
From there, i developed a concept to integrate different parts of the wood and its nature, to showcase a device that is premium, meaningful and full of community spirit.
Wood derived from trees, which are the backbone of our nature. Like how billions of trees across the world acts as a collective to support the ecosystem, our diverse Nothing Community users are the supporting pillars for the Nothing brand and the contributors to a great user experience.
Also, I wanted to pay homage to previous community edition by integrating the luminous material to the side of the phone. Further connecting the community sense
Not only that, I want to recognise that the Nothing brand is new to the phone market. Creating 3 age ring around the camera could not only aesthetically bring out the rounded structure or the phone, but also signifies that this is the 3rd version of the phone. Wood is also often associated or used as a premium material, which creates even more value to the 3a budget series.
