Charge Speed after NOS 3.0 Update - Phone (2)

Before the 3.0 stable update, I used to charge my Phone 2 with an Apple 20W charger, and it charged rapidly. I also used an 18W Xiaomi charger (which supports Quick Charge 3), and it charged my Phone 2 quickly as well. However, after updating to OS 3.0 stable, the charging speed seems to have been capped at 5W with the same chargers.

This has become a huge inconvenience for me. How am I supposed to charge my device when I need it urgently? The phone now displays a message prompting me to purchase an official charger to enable fast charging.

I’m really disappointed that Nothing has restricted the charging capabilities like this. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE ASAP, as it will undoubtedly affect more users in the future. Now I have to wait 3 hours before my Phone 2 got charged 🙁

Spark i’m having the same issue with my nothing phone 1 it charged perfectly before the update and when I charged for the first time after the new OS it didn’t charged with the fast charger so I had to charge it with a slow Type A to Type C charger

Idk how soon they will fix this

Spark dude I got the same issue here. Was arguing with their support about that. They game me an instructions to export the charging log and screen record and upload that on their gdrive. A few weeks later they got back to me saying it’s a bug and devs are working on it. But it’s been a few months now. Super frustrating and brings huge discomfort

I don’t understand why there’s so many issues with Nothing OS 3.0, I personally believe that the new update was released too early. I’m also facing weird issues with mine. Sadly the Nothing Team are quick to striking people’s post for complaining about the lack of support from customer service yet they don’t offer help for customers quickly enough or at all. I love Nothing but wow, the customer service (this includes communication and support) sucks terribly.

JefRoftin because one shouldn’t have to. It seems that NOTHING has never released specs (and didn’t include one in CheapMoFo1 box) … I would that a PPS-equipped charger works (PD3.0/PPS) for my phone and likely all nothing phones.

Also, NOTHING’s chargers are VERY expensive.

This happened to me and there are some issues.

I found that any PD 2.0/QC 3.0 charger was capped at 12-13W on NOS 2.6/3.0.

I found that a PD 3.0/PPS charger from any brand would charge my CheapMoFo1 at 25-28W. Anker 511 (Nano 3, 30W). Worked great regardless on 2.6. Never saw the 33W speeds advertised, but maybe 28W is the max of the 30W charger.

I found with that with 3.0beta it’s more hit and miss with the PPS charger. If the phone is locked it doesn’t really work. If the screen is unlocked it’s fine.

I have submitted a formal complaint and am in discussion with the service team (actual people).

I used the “Prof” title and perhaps that’s why they got back to me.

If it is a bug, it’s ok because it can be resolved. But if it is a marketing ploy to make people buy nothing chargers (that cost Rs. 2300 apiece), it is perhaps the worst possible ploy. Hope better sense prevails in this company.

JefRoftin I think you’re missing my point. I think IT SHOULD work with any charger. The 30W charger I use was £10 and it works.

It might be an Android thing. Im pretty sure Nothing OS doesnt control anything to do with charging.

JoeDissolvo I bought a OnePlus 12 recently with 100W charging and I believe that’s not controlled under A14/15 itself.

Updated to the stable 3.0 release and using a B elkin65w and 45w charger, not seen an issue. IMO better to use a good charger. The Belkin charger wasn’t that expensive either.

Since years I am using my trusty Samsung 25 W charger which came with my Galaxy Note 10+ for pretty much every phone, it always worked fast and well under OS 2.x and it also works just as well after I updated my NP2 to OS 3.0 yesterday.

So everything is just fine in my experience.

I have the same issue in phone 2 after OS 3 update. Fast charging did work in the OS 3 beta and earlier with most of the chargers. This should be addressed by Nothing if it is a bug. Only limited chargers are able to fast charge now.

I got what was the Problem

Apparently it’s a bug…

After reboot it charges fine at regular speed as on 2.6 (atleast with Xiaomi Qualcomm QC 3.0 18 Watt charger)

And regarding that Charging rapidly message

It was removed because I’m using 18watt charger now

And due to Android 15 the threshold limit for charging rapidly is 20watt

So I need a charger above 20watt to get this message….

Hmm, but I still don’t know how they capped the charge speed limit from Apple 20 Watt PD charger to 5 to 7 watts… it’s definitely a bug…

I charge my modedit:removed every third day. I use an Anker Nano 3 (511) 33W PD3.0/PPS charger.

It seems to get capped at 12-13 W like the PD 2.0 chargers/QC3.0 chargers that I use when I first plug it in.

Then on the second and their attempts it’s always 25W+ plus.

Needless to say, I only been able to test this out twice as it’s only been a week since I received 3.0b.
