So, I am big into photogrammetry/ 3D asset capture. One of the things that has pushed me closer and closer towards a pro iphone (iphone 14-16 pro) is the LIDAR scanner.
Being able to combine high quality image/video with LIDAR data to improve photogrammetric models is amazing, not to mention apps like Polycam/Kiri engine which really are their best when there is LIDAR data to work with, which is only on an IPhone.
It’s little details like this that often lock artists into the IPhone ecosystem. Being able to carry a powerhouse creative tool in your pocket with an amazing camera/array of sensors (IPhones can be used for facial mocap!) makes them basically the only choice if you’re in 3D work.
I’ve been waiting for an android phone to build this functionality in for a while now, but it seems too “artsy” or niche for most android phones. However, maybe Nothing is that sort of niche company, who knows.
