I feel that the glyph interface definitely has some very exciting usecases that can’t be dismissed as gimmicks purely because of the fact that they can’t be done by an AOD or using the screen in a better/more fun way. Some of them:
- Now Playing/Shazam on steroids.
It should be able to detect music that’s playing in the surrounding and the LEDs should start doing their thing in sync with the song.
Tell ear(1)'s battery level via LEDs when it’s reverse wireless charging. Apple AirPower like. Is this possible though? Not sure
Find my Phone(1)
Ability to light up the phone’s back remotely
- Focus mode
Pomodoro timer and other long-duration timers should have a visual feedback via LEDs on how many minutes are left in a focus session when I wiggle the phone(using the bottom strip used for charging level indicator)
- Camera shutter countdown
For the last 3 seconds of the countdown, have a light pattern sequence for each second in the countdown.(for photos as well as videos)
- SOS LED pattern
A SOS pattern should be triggered on pressing some button shortcuts(it could act as a SOS code among a friend group to save a friend from being stuck in boring conversations in bars and other public places)
- Fall detection
LEDs to start blinking in a particular pattern if it detects a fall. Would help not miss phones slipping off pockets(or even help people if they stumble and fall in the night somewhere and need help)
- Voice assistant
Glow when the phone is placed face down and a voice assistant is invoked by the user
