Since I’m often in places where there’s no wi-fi, I rely heavily on my 5G connection and my mobile hotspot. I use it with my MacBook Pro, like I always did before too. I have tried different configurations, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, with and without WPA-3 protection. The speed when I’m on 5G with the mobile is fine, but when I switch on the hotspot and start using it with the MacBook Pro the speed is much much slower on my Mac. Hugely slower. I did some tests using the same online tool on the Mac and the mobile. Let’s say that it looks like the hotspot has ⅕ of the speed I have with my 5G using the smartphone. The Mac is the only device connected to the hotspot by the way, so the connection is not shared with other devices.

Plus the hotspot is often disabled by Nothing OS telling me that the hotspot temperature is too high.

This is quite a problem because I need the hotspot for my job and before, with an old Motorola Moto G 5G, everything worked just fine. That smartphone was terrible for some things 😂, but the hotspot worked like a charm. 😃

Is there anyone experiencing the same problem?

hrry changed the title to CMF Phone 2 Pro Hotspot Speed - Help .

    AshishKalkandha already done.

The drop in quality and speed remains: speed on my Mac using the hotspot is ⅕ of speed of the CMF Phone 2 Pro. The hotspot becomes hot, or so Nothing OS tells me and shuts down the service.

With the old smartphone I used before I never bumped in a problem like this. Don’t know what, but there’s something wrong with the hotspot that makes connection and speed drop and generates higher temperatures.

viewmeunniraj97 I suppose it’s a common problem at this point.

Two days ago Nothing sent me a survey asking for my opinion on the user experience so far. Apart from the many positive aspects (I’d buy the phone again, anyway 😃), I also reported this problem.

Let’s hope they’ll be able to find a solution. The 5G connection on the smartphone is good so it’s a pity we can’t take advantage of it with the hotspot.
