I’m a long standing Tech nerd..
My carreer started on small shops, selling and building PCs
I went on doing Sysadming, i was involved a bit into ROM development on both the Nexus5x and the Pocophone F1, and working for a fortune 400 as sysadmin.
So i’m the main person that gives advice on what tech to buy, why, at what price etc in a family of 8 people, plus friends.
I have a mother, a sister and a niece.
I bought the CMF Phone 1 for my mom, and it has been an amazing experience for her:
Decluttered, 0 bloatware interface, blazing fast for the pricepoint
As a S25 Ultra owner, the only times i can tell it’s a slower phone in day to day duties is web-page opening, or app installation takes longer.. but to be expected for the price point. At no other point watsoever it feels like slow, unreactive, unresponsive.
Also bought the CMF Watch PRO 2 for her - not so much, but the issues are regarding absent vibration settings (the watch vibrates too little for too short a time on notifications) and the set up process to get all the right notification to show up on the watch - you guys need to do a better job of integrating your product ecosystem.
A year later, i’m trying to convince both my sister( extremely long overdue Hwawei Smart P user) and my niece (that’s currently using a similarly priced Redmi 13 https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_13-13102.php that has constant issues - it turns off, app crashing, and also it’s slow and battery life is not amazing- uses a more than 5 years old SOC on a newely packeged phone, yikes, i had a fight when they bought it for how bad it was on paper- and i was right) to switch to the Phone 2 pro. But i can’t.
My sister and my niece want.. Nothing to do with it, after playing a bit with the Phone 1 from my mother.
Why? because it screams too much nerd.
From the UI that’s digital pixel art, to the horribile selection (even by MY nerd standards) for ringtones.
I really like the product. It’s lean, mean, battery for my mother lasts 2 to 3 full days, does everything you need at the right price, decent camera.
But i just can’t sell it to them because of its male/nerd oriented interface.
