It’s been 2 weeks using Nothing Phone (3a), I clicked some pictures & sharing it today in this Camera Review post -
Before going towards camera samples let’s get know the camera specifications -
Nothing Phone (3a) comes with Triple Camera at rear & a selfie camera at front -
- 50MP OIS (Samsung)
- 8MP Ultra-Wide (Sony)
- 50MP Telephoto (Samsung)
- 32MP Selfie (Samsung)
50MP OIS Camera -
The primary camera captures good photos with natural colours. Due to intense sunlight in summer, outdoor photos may look more bright 🔆
You can see at the shadows, the different colours of the plants & leaves 🌿🌴
The details are pretty sharp & the balance of brightness, contrast, saturation are well maintained here.
IMO, it’s colour scheme is something like google pixel phones.
The dynamic range not consistent in every picture, specially in sunlight (it can be improved via software update).
I really like this natural colour balance, the pictures shown is looks same in real (except sky).
I clicked some moving pictures in speed when I was on bike, here the OIS did his job very well. All the details are clearly visible but again sky colour changes in every picture (dynamic range) 😅
The indoor photos are also clear & close to natural colours. You can some lights & reflections are also visible, however 1st pic is slightly blurry with less details (don’t know why) 😅
The phone 3a primary camera is descent in the segment 📸
8MP Ultra-Wide
The Ultra-Wide Sony camera is decent, good in bright environment and surprisingly UW camera has better dynamic range than primary 😅
Details are less comparing to the primary camera but as per 8MP UW it’s acceptable.
50MP Telephoto -
The 50MP (EIS) Samsung Telephoto lens performing great as per my experience, after zooming it maintained the details pretty good.
📌 We can’t shoot 4K videos on Telephoto lens 🙁

Colours may look different because of light conditions (high & low sunlight) 🔆
Moon Photography 🌕🌔🌓🌒 -
Here the actual photo look different before processing, after that the moon looks very detailed because of AI Processing (all brands have this AI Moon Processing).
Nothing Phone (3a) is decent camera phone (not best) in segment. In some scenarios camera needs software improvement, the Camera App is good & smooth.
You need to clean the lens everytime, it collect dust very easily because of its back design.
NothingOS Camera App UI is clean & very responsive. The best thing I like in Camera app is the Presets feature, we can add, create any Presets and share with anyone.
Nothing announced that, old nothing devices will also get presets via OTA update very soon…
