for me, Steve Jobs was still the standard in terms of design. I’m looking for a similar vibe in this company, but I understand that this is not it. Carl Pei says that design is important to them, but when I see huge clock widgets, which do not carry any real benefit, I understand that these dudes do not know at all about design. For me, design is not just throwing fake widgets on the home screen to make it look beautiful on promo pictures. Design is when you think about every detail in the system, when it is important for you that the user makes few clicks and gets really important things, and not a case when you install widgets not from this company and the whole concept breaks down because the design is different. And this hodgepodge in android phones, when everyone does their crutches, is really terrible.
For example, why wouldn’t a Nothing make the keyboard offer ready-made phrases based on neural networks when writing text? And they won’t, because tomorrow Google will do the same, and their resources will be wasted. In fact, the driver of all new features will be Google, and the Nothing will simply be forced to only slightly customize the system, because there will be no resources for more. Therefore, if you look far ahead, I honestly do not understand where the guys will get the resources to do it really differently from Google.
In short, for me now the problem is that I don’t understand what are the prospects for growth in the matter of a special approach to design, when you are so dependent on Google’s view of the whole thing. Do you think you don’t have the same feeling?
