_enz To be fair, to this point, that subscription based model is still just rumors and speculation, it so far hasn’t been announced by Nothing. Personally I can imagine as time goes on and they keep adding more features to the Essential Space, they might actually start charging for those advanced features.

People who don’t subscribe will still be able to use the regular Essential Space.

Just can’t get excited about a rolling month subscription to an AI-based interface.

I already pay Google £8/mo for 2 TB storage.

And if I don’t, will I retain a dead button on the CMF2Pro.

At least gimme a non-Pro with updated CMF1 cameras, same mono speaker, same no NFC for £229-249. If CMF2Pro gets near £299, it’s going to cannibalise Phone3a sales as they’re available for £270 from Ali.

Are we going the Xiaomi way with too options and pricing.

Coldpaw to be fair using essential space for free hasn’t been confirmed either.

It’s currently free but it doesn’t have to remain that way. Or it could remain free but with adverts.

There is zero legal information provided by NOTHING to comply with EEA laws to state what happens to accessing that information. Furthermore, a space limit has been reached by some users, and those users should be contacting NOTHING’s legal team as a space limitation was not documented upon purchase.

CMF1_hacker If we’d use these kind of argumentation further, we could also argue use of the Nothing Weather app and Voice Recorder or let alone the Nothing Gallery might not be free in the future because it hasn’t been specifically mentioned anywhere.

Nothing advertised the Essential Space with a set of available features without mentioning any possible costs and I am pretty sure they will stick to that, otherwise they might get into hot water by customer rights in certain countries.

The fact they failed to mention a monthly restriction and limitation of use, of course is a very foul taste and already very questionable. They also still haven’t updated their product pages about it, which makes this taste even more sour. I’m hoping the upcoming quarterly community update will bring some overdue clarification on these topics.

Coldpaw The thing is…. when someone was doing a teardown of the APK of Essential Space… They found it MIGHT cost $120 per year or something so… from what I remember…. Here’s the article:

Coldpaw no, that argument cannot be made by a reasonable person as the data for the apps you mentioned is recorded locally on the device memory and there is no presumption of unlimited storage.

When something is stored non-locally, then a space limit is usually assigned, or unlimited space is granted by default (unless fair usage is specified, which I believe was not the case with Essential Space).

Thus, this is a totally different set of presumptions. Please note that I have not read the detailed legalese provided for usage in the EEA.

Keerth1n Yes I have read that article, but it still doesn’t clarify anything and mostly still leads to speculation. Don’t get me wrong, I think Nothing should issue a public statement on that matter rather sooner than later, but I still doubt they are going to put the Essential Space behind a fully enforced paywall. It would piss off customers and could do real damage to the brand, especially if they keep their stance to not letting users either remap or disable the dedicated Essential Key.

Plz bring this ESSENTIAL SPACE to 2a plus and other older phones too. The trigger could be a double tap of Power button. I would love to have it and to be precise, I was expecting such a thing once in a while while taking screenshots.

ItsmehotdogGaming No NFC ia more of a reason for me to be interested. NFC is one of the bigger security issues with phones of today. No NFC means a more secure device.
