Rob ⚡️ This is awesome! Gotta love the complete transparency that we get to see with Nothing’s products as always. Never did I think an OWS like this would actually be possible, and I got to learn about an actual practical application of the Sound Seal in real life, something I read in theory and believed that technology would take several years to make this a reality with the current tech market situation. Which is why I’m so excited to try them on finally.

Rob ⚡️ Somehow I always thought that the metallic part on the ear hook is just some weight to stabilise the earbuds, but I like that battery placement

I’m using them since a couple of days, I’m impressed by the sound quality, battery life & wearing comfort. On photo the Ear Open looked quite big to me, but if you hold them in your own hands they look so refined and sleek. Well done Nothing!

Two things I’d love to see added/changed:

Bluetooth LE/LC3 support (can maybe be added via a firmware update? thanks Nothing 😉 )
You can’t open the case when it’s charging: all USB C cables I have block top lid from opening completely (minor thing, but I usually have the case lying on my desk & charging)

Rob ⚡️ The Sound Seal System is the real MVP, I never thought I would be interested in headphones with an open sound system but Nothing made possible what seemed impossible, they are really comfortable and sound incredible.

I never thought good bass quality was achievable in open ear buds. It was good to know that NOTHING has managed to improve bass quality as well as cancel out sound leakage with an inverse sound playing for the external speaker

Love a great teardown. To echo what some have mentioned, I find the battery placement interesting. Perhaps it also balances the weight of the driver at the other end? Anyway, really enjoy these detailed breakdowns.

absolutely love these teardown breakdowns, also absolutely loving my ear (open). I take them everywhere with me at this point and use them way more than I’ve used most headphones/earbuds. these sound excellent but also keep me well engaged in my environments, great work on these.

This was my first time knowing what exactly is inside hardware like the Ear (open). I didn’t even know what batteries looked like for devices like these before this post so kudos to the team for that. Excited for the path ahead for Nothing.

Rob ⚡️ I’ve never really been a fan of open type earphones because I love the bass that in ear gives but looking at reviews of it, it seems to be really good and still gives a good bass. The other thing I like is the hook, which sits on top of the ear and prevents it from dropping which I struggle with most in ear since my ear gets oily very easily.

Rob ⚡️ Wow I really like to look inside this kind of tech product. When I see something cool I usually look up online teardown videos to look how they are on the inside. My favorite products are the ones that look good both outside and inside!

I respect Nothing for proudly showing the insides of their products, both with transparent plastic and teardowns. I’ll take inspiration from this if I’ll design something of my own!

The thing I find most interesting is the sound sealing system, allowing for a private listening experience, even though it is an OWS.

Perhaps, with some more R&D, Nothing may even develop an Ear open 2 with ANC (similar to Apples airpods 4 with ANC). Who knows what the future holds
