Everyone had situations, where you need camera right away, ideally right after you pick up phone from table or pocket. . Who have kids will understand how every second counts to shoot moment. Road rage, spotting UFO etc. Me personally spotted ball lightning. 3 seconds took to turn on camera and its gone. Camera supposed to be turned on momentarily.
At first look it need to be tactile, not visual (to turn on blindly, without looking on display). Physical button works best here. Cons — hardware limitations and practicallly it still not 100% success — iphone 15 additional programmable button proved this. Also morale issue — hidden footage is not something peoples want in their live.
But its possible to do software implementation as well. Idea is to turn on camera by shouting. Like word, rarely used in eveday conversations. For example it could be “Action!” or ”Camera action”. Easy pronouns at every language, clearly stating whats going on to people around. This word trigger camera on and blocks touch screen to avoid turning off by accidentally pressing touchscreen during removing phone and pointing camera. Once phone removed touch will on again in 1-2 second. Cons — none. Pros — easy implementation via firmware code. Never miss moments.
Try to imagine it, or better play with your current phone. Ask someone do something and try to do footage as fast as u can. Remember that in some situations every second cost. Try with phone on table, in pocket, carholder etc. its makes you mad every time with current implementation of this function — starting recording.
